While not the most radical of changes, we nevertheless took great care before messing with such a prestigious and longstanding brand. It was only after taking a rigorous poll of advisors and readers that we received the nearly unanimous reaction—"That's what we call you already!"—and our decision was confirmed.
The name change fits well with the more radical redesign of the magazine's look and feel, which you will see throughout these pages. Also, be on the lookout for new departments such as They Said It, where we highlight some of the best writing from our Web site as well as more contributions from education superstar authors like Clayton Christensen and Alan November. Be sure, however, that one thing will stay the same here at Technol, er, Tech&Learning—our editorial mission remains: to provide readers with the best information on what technologies are driving innovation in schools.
Another big change is that Publisher Jo-Ann McDevitt is leaving Technology & Learning. She is moving on to a new role as Vice President of the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP). Jo-Ann leaves behind a legacy of more than 20 years of developing the Technology & Learning brand into a robust community of passionate, tech-using educators. Jo-Ann experienced and partook in an amazing period of transformation—from the infancy of the personal computer, the creation of Windows and Web browsers, to today's world of handheld mobile devices and interactive whiteboards. All of us at Technology & Learning will miss Jo-Ann and wish her all the best in her new role.
