Part I: 1-1:30 p.m. – Assessment Overload: Where We Are Now and Possible Solutions featuring Jonathan Martin. This session will provide a general overview of “where we are now” with regard to assessment. It will include a synopsis of the current state of affairs with assessments and identify the problems educators face with assessments, including the burdens assessments can place on teachers. Martin will discuss the importance of efficient data and tools in easing the burden and how technology can help provide solutions.
Part II: 2-2:30 p.m. – 7 Engaging Ways to Ensure and Assess Student Understanding with Technology featuring Shelly Sanchez Terrell.
Teachers worldwide are using various technology tools and sites to make sure students achieve learning objectives. Technology helps teachers quickly provide ongoing feedback to many students. Students can also learn to use various tools to provide feedback to peers. In this webinar, Shelly Sanchez Terrell, will share various tips and tools to help students take ownership of their learning, assess where they are, and ensure they are on track.
Part III: 3-3:30 p.m. – Assessing 21st Century Skills Using Technology featuring Jonathan Martin. This session addresses how educators can use technological tools and programs to better teach and assess 21st Century skills such as Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Communication.
Part IV: 4-4:30 p.m. – Creative and Engaging Assessments for Active Learning featuring Naomi Harm. This presentation will discuss how educators can use mobile, device-neutral apps and web resources to easily collect data and how to use this feedback for student understanding during instruction. Harm will explain how educators can provide students with clear learning targets, and give the ability to self-assess, track learning, and set goals to support a personalized teaching and learning environment. It will also include a discussion of the challenges of adopting technologies and assessments with 1:1, including bandwidth, funding, and privacy issues.
