Silver Spring, Md. (September 25, 2018) – California’s Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) today announced it is expanding its partnership with Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms. In this new stage of the partnership, FUESD’s educators will receive access to Discovery Education’s STEM Connect, a cutting-edge interdisciplinary K-8 resource designed to enhance core curriculum and bring STEM to life in classrooms.

The introduction of this new resource into FUESD’s classrooms will continue the district’s cultural and instructional transformation as is fosters STEM teaching and learning across the school system.

In 2017, FUESD integrated Discovery Education’s Techbook Series and Streaming Plus into classroom instruction, empowering educators across the school system with the dynamic digital resources they need to create immersive learning experiences. In addition, FUESD’s teachers and administrators became the first in California to participate in Discovery Education’s three-year professional learning initiative, STEMformation.

To continue the district’s instructional and cultural transformation, this fall FUESD educators across the school district will begin using to enhance STEM instruction. Built on a 4Cs STEM skills framework, STEM Connect helps students develop the creative, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills they need for success beyond graduation. Featuring flexible, modular learning units, STEM Connect provides students an easy-to-follow educational experience that includes real-world challenges, career connections, and hands-on activities.

To ensure each Fallbrook Union Elementary School District teacher is fully prepared to incorporate STEM Connect into classroom instruction, Discovery Education’s professional development experts will provide district educators robust professional learning opportunities. Through these professional learning opportunities, educators will learn how to maximize their new digital resources and build immersive STEM lessons that engage students and improve academic achievement.

“At FUESD our goal is to create a culture of teaching and learning that improves engagement, accelerates academic achievement, and supports the attainment of the skills today’s students need to become successful life-long learners,” said Fallbrook Union Elementary School District Superintendent Candace Singh. “Discovery Education has been a great partner in helping us achieve this goal, we look forward to the next phase of this powerful relationship.”

Throughout this new stage of the ongoing partnership, FUESD educators will continue to receive support from the Discovery Education Community. A global community of education professionals, the Discovery Education Community connects members across school systems and around the world through social media, virtual conferences, and in-person events, fostering valuable networking, idea sharing and inspiration.

“Discovery Education is incredibly proud to support Superintendent Singh and her colleagues as they continue to build new and exciting ways to ignite student curiosity and improve academic achievement.” said, Discovery Education Partnership Manager Dominique Coulon. “We are inspired by their ongoing efforts and are excited to continue working side by side with the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District as they continue to transform teaching and learning environments across the district.”
