POWERUP Toys Launches the POWERUP Powered Paper Airplane Challenge for Schools at ISTE 2018

(Chicago, IL) June 24, 2018 – Designed to help students learn about engineering, physics and design, the POWERUP Powered Paper Airplane Challenge lets students build and test powered paper airplanes they design and construct from a simple sheet of paper. To help educators get started with the challenge, POWERUP Toys is giving free POWERUP 2.0 Free Flight motors to every educator who registers for the challenge in the POWERUP booth (#988) at ISTE. In addition, all registrants will be entered into a drawing to win one of several 25-motor POWERUP 2.0 kits so educators can involve whole classrooms in designing and testing their paper airplanes.

Registration for the challenge opens on June 25, 2018 and closes on September 28, 2018. Submissions will be accepted between October 1, 2018 and October 31, 2018. To compete in the challenge, individual students or teams of students in grades 3 and up design, test, and revise their designs to create the most aerodynamic plane. When they are ready, they will videotape their plane flying as it attempts to reach a target. For a complete list of rules, directions on how to upload a video to the POWERUP FlightDeck platform, and to view the judging rubric visit challenge.poweruptoys.com.

Winners will be announced on November 7, 2018. Prizes will include upgrades on plane motors and a presentation via Skype with POWERUP Toys CEO Shai Goitein on entrepreneurship, engineering, and how to pursue your dreams.

“We started this challenge to both interest students in STEAM and provide a way for our future engineers to showcase their designs,” said Shai Goitein, CEO and Founder of Tailor Toys L.L.C, the company behind POWERUP Toys. “For many years educators have conducted paper airplane lessons and now this challenge lets them take those lessons to a whole new level.”

All POWERUP Toys kits are Project Lead the Way-certified and include access to a downloadable teacher’s guide and FlightDeck, an online lesson community on the Workbench Platform that helps teachers create and find opportunities for projects using POWERUP Toys kits.
