Presidential Election Process: Write a Campaign Song

10/2/2012 12:00:00 AM
There are only a few weeks left in the 2012 Presidential campaign. Here’s a lesson plan from ArtsEdge for 5th graders that will help your students understand the process of a presidential campaign while using their creative ideas in writing campaign songs. This is a comprehensive cross-curricular lesson that combines music and music composition with history and political science. The lesson plan includes hand-outs as well as a detailed description of the preparation necessary and suggestions for instruction. By the end of the lesson, students will know about primaries, conventions, the general election, and the electoral college.
