Learning Resources (www.learningresources.com) developed a hands-on coding product for children ages 5 and up. Made for classroom use and home play, the Robot Mouse Coding Activity Set provides a hands-on way of learning basic coding for children of a young age – providing endless programming combinations. Using enclosed materials, children build a maze (using enclosed activity cards or by their own imagination) for the electronic mouse to find the cheese (though the mouse is not dependent upon the maze that is snapped together – any hard surface will do). Children then use cards to help them plot out the mouse’s path, programming the moves using arrows on the mouse’s back. If they make a mistake they are able to look at the cards they laid out to see where they went wrong, then go back and correct the mistake and reprogram “Colby” to get his reward.
