Today's Newsletter: Edtech Marches On

Here’s the bottom line. As much as the Luddites may hem and haw over computers or devices or the Internet or Social Media in the classroom, the reality is that they are all there, everywhere. Forbes magazine proves the point with a story on the XPRIZE and its efforts to integrate rural Africa: “The $15 million Global Learning XPRIZE is a five-year competition where some 4,000 children in 200 villages will take part in the18-month field trial. Each child will receive one of 8,000 Pixel C tablets donated by Google.” Now I hear some of you asking about the value in all this. After all, hasn’t One Laptop Per Child been working toward this same thing for years? Well, yes, and it will take many years more to improve. That doesn’t mean people should stop trying or hesitating to go forward with these fantastic tools. —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
