The nonprofit MIND Research Institute hosted its 7th Annual Awards Dinner on October 8th, 2010 to honor 14 of the 27 schools in Chicago’s Area Thirteen school district and 3 California schools that have demonstrated high levels of student achievement in math with MIND’s technology-based instructional program.
Sally Ride, physicist and the first American woman in space, addressed the importance of having a world-class mathematics education in today’s information- and knowledge-driven society, saying,"The United States ranks 24th out of 29 countries on math achievement and too many students are not equipped to enter careers in mathematics, science, engineering and technology.”
