"I Approve This Message" Election Contest

In advance of the 2012 Presidential Debates, the National Forensic League is hosting the "I Approve This Message" Contest, allowing high school students to debate pressing issues on the economy, health care, and education. Students can select one, or all three topics, and submit a five-minute persuasive speech video that addresses a problem and proposes a solution within the topic category.

Topic Categories and Deadlines:

Week 1 Topic: Health Care
Video submission deadline: October 12, 2012, 12 p.m. CDT

Week 2 Topic: Economy
Video submission deadline: October 19, 2012, 12 p.m. CDT

Week 3 Topic: Education
Video submission deadline: October 26, 2012, 12 p.m. CDT

National Forensic League Announces Winners of Presidential Debate Contest

Three high school students have been named winners of the National Forensic League’s “I Approve This Message” Presidential Debate Contest. The winners are Nakul Makkad, senior at Fairmont Preparatory Academy in Anaheim, Calif.; Vidhaath Sripatha, senior at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, N.J.; and Nishesh Chaubey, junior at Southside High School in Greenville, S.C. The students submitted five-minute YouTube videos tackling issues of health care, education and the economy.
