Young Inventors Travel to White House Science Fair Today

On Tuesday, May 27th, two Massachusetts-based Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams, high school science teams awarded up to 10K to bring invention ideas to life, will showcase their invention projects to President Obama at the White House Science Fair. Among the invited InvenTeam members are:

·Natick High School: Katelyn Sweeney and Olivia Van Amsterdam will represent this InvenTeam. The team developed a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for ice search and rescue dive teams.

·Newton North High School:Felege Gebru and Karen Cheuk-Wing Fan will represent this InvenTeam. The team developed a pedestrian alert system to be used in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to alert drivers of crossing pedestrians and help pedestrians safely cross congested roads.

This year’s White House Science Fair will celebrate girls in STEM.
