Today's Newsletter: Over $3 Billion Needed for WiFi in Schools and Libraries

Looks like the President’s plan for high speed WiFi in every classroom is going to be even bigger than first thought: Education Week summarizes two recent reports by COSN and Education Superhighway that tallies a higher projection for what it will take to modernize the nation’s access to the Internet. In a nutshell: “Add it all up, CoSN and EducationSuperHighway say, and you get to $2.9 billion over the next four years in unmet need for schools, as well as a rough estimate of $300 million in unmet need for libraries.” Government Technology questions whether or not the initiative is realistic. My question: Would you be asking the same question about electricity or indoor plumbing? – Kevin Hogan, Editorial Director
