How to explain today?
The 9/11 catch phrase “Never Forget” always felt like a misnomer to me. Who could forget such a horrible day? I have come to appreciate the sentiment however as I realize there are now college-age students too young to remember. I don’t envy social studies teachers today, who need to navigate what to show and share when discussing this most painful of events. There are a number of sites that can help guide you through. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a good place to start. It has a well-curated collection of instructional materials. The Department of Education also lists resources. Unfortunately, today can also be good starting point on discussing information literacy as any Youtube search will spew forth the worst sort of disinformation. —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
