PARCC Updates: Spring Launch Notes

This week marks the launch of the spring 2015 PARCC, with more than 100,000 students starting tests this week in Ohio, one school district in Illinois, and a handful of high schools starting in New Jersey today.

As students progress through the course of study, teachers will scaffold questions to prepare students to gather ideas for written compositions. Scaffolding means that the sequence of questions asked during instruction is not random, but instead purposeful and intended to lead students to discover key ideas. A new series of customizable resources developed by educators for educators is now available. This virtual packet can be customized by schools, districts, and states to share with parents and families to help them better understand the PARCC assessment system.
