This activity provides instructions for extracting DNA from kiwi fruit using simple household chemicals. The procedure used in this activity has the same essential elements as more advanced laboratory DNA extraction procedures: mechanical and thermal disruption of cells, liberation of the DNA, and precipitation of the DNA.
