Matthew Peterson

Matthew Peterson co-founded the nonprofit MIND Research Institute, which develops math instructional software and systems as well as conducting basic neuroscientific, mathematics and education research. Peterson, senior institute scientist and chief technology officer, created the institute's MIND’s ST Math computer software that teaches math to students using MIND’s unique non-language-based approach. He focuses on helping students gain math proficiency regardless of language barriers by conveying sophisticated concepts visually rather than verbally. Peterson, who has a doctorate in neuroscience from UC Berkeley, is the author of "Interactive QuickTime: Authoring Wired Media."
