Student Learning, Student Achievement: How Do Teachers Measure Up?

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) will formally release a report outlining effective methods of using student learning as a measure of teacher effectiveness via an interactive webcast on Thursday, March 10, 2011, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. EST. Advance copies of the full report and executive summary will be available by visiting www.nbpts.org/studentlearning

The report, Student Learning, Student Achievement: How Do Teachers Measure Up? also provides principles for selecting and using large-scale assessments to evaluate teacher practice, and offers recommendations about how the National Board Certification process can be used more effectively to measure accomplished teachers' contributions to student learning and how those lessons can be shared with the field.
