The following products are the winners of Tech & Learning’s annual ISTE Best of Show Awards. Products were submitted and anonymously evaluated by Tech & Learning advisors. Bloomz is the free app that saves teachers time in all parent communications while creating a supportive classroom community. Created in partnership with Mazin Education, the BrightBytes Early Warning module on the Clarity platform individualizes dropout prediction and prevention using an advanced, research-based algorithm that determines the factors that drive risk factors at each school, for each student. With this module, educators are able to intervene early, increase referral follow-through, and track progress at the student level.


ClassFlow from Promethean is a free collaborative teaching and learning platform that can help teachers bring their classes to life. ClassFlow integrates free and premium curriculum content with engaging lesson delivery application that works with most student devices, including Chromebooks, iPads, laptop computers, and smartphones. With ClassFlow, teachers and students can create or search interactive quizzes, polls, and team-based activities to promote student engagement. With ClassFlow’s easy lesson-building tools, teachers can quickly create lessons, assessments, and assignments for use in and out of the classroom.


Cradlepoint is supporting the connected bus movement with its COR IBR1100. This platform is a 3G/4G/LTE networking solution that is designed for mission-critical connectivity in the most challenging environments. The cloud-delivered solution is ideal for in-vehicle networks, including school buses. The COR IBR1100 is ruggedized to protect against extreme temperatures, humidity, shocks, dust, water splash, and transient voltage disruptions. Cradlepoint’s Enterprise Cloud Manager (ECM) enables centralized management and real-time monitoring. CTL created the NL6X “xtra rugged Chromebook.” The X version of NL6 Chromebook reduces accidents and screen breaks by up to 90%. The NL6X has an integrated, patent-pending cover that is designed to transfer the weight of an impact around the chassis rather than at the impact point.


Curriculum Foundry,’s solution for seamlessly accessing, organizing, and sharing digital content, helps school districts manage the often overwhelming task of transitioning to a digital curriculum. Dell introduced its first interactive, 70”, FHD conference room monitor. The Dell C7017T interactive touch monitor is a great fit for schools looking for a large display that is designed for everyday programs and applications. The Dell C7017T features 10-point finger touch capability, plus two styluses for different modes of onscreen interaction. Industry-standard software is supported on the Dell C7017T, including Windows, OSX, and Chrome, making the Dell C7017T a versatile and interactive classroom tool.


The Dell S560T multi-touch projector turns a whiteboard and virtually any wall into an interactive 100” screen. This interactive projector works without drivers on Chromebooks and Windows. Teachers can freeze projected slides to invite collaboration or annotation with regular dry-erase markers, enabling a smooth classroom integration. Users can write, swipe, and draw comfortably and can switch seamlessly between using their hands or working with a stylus.


BrightBytes, in partnership with iKeepSafe, built the Digital Privacy, Safety & Security module to help districts achieve the right balance between technology learning goals and privacy and security responsibilities. The module enables educators to analyze their current digital safety efforts collaboratively, and create comprehensive actionable plans for improvement.


The second-generation Dremel Idea Builder 3D40 equips educators with a complete ecosystem for introducing applications of 3D printing to the modern classroom learning environment. The Dremel Idea Builder 3D40 features multiple access points that are designed to provide immediate, out-of-the-box, classroom implementation. Advancements include USB-and wifi-enabled printing, active filament monitoring, a maintenance-free extruder, and assisted leveling.


Epson’s Pro L1405U large-venue projector combines a laser light source and 3LCD technology for powerful, brilliant images. Ergotron’s LearnFit Sit-Stand Desk helps educators transform their classrooms into active learning environments by providing an on-demand sit-stand experience that breaks up sedentary time during the school day. With a simple squeeze of a hand lever, the students can change from sitting to standing postures, to relieve body discomfort, self-manage energy levels and focus, and create a custom learning experience that is aligned to their height requirements. This adjustment capability is unique in that it does not require facility support. For students ages 12 and over, LearnFit can be easily adjusted between their sitting and standing heights, with a standard-height student chair being used for seating. For students ages six through 12, LearnFit should be set at the standing height of each individual student.


Designed to tighten the feedback loop between schools and families, the Family App puts just-in-time information at the fingertips of parents/guardians and students on their mobile devices. Easy-to-view icons quickly connect families with classwork, schedules, attendance, grades, activities, and more. The app is designed to provide information to parents when they need it. Classwork details can be easily referenced and include due dates, descriptions, attachments, and scores. Alerts are also set up to notify parents for attendance, grades, and school updates. The Schedule allows parents about know where their children are during school hours on any day, at any time, including details like class names, room numbers, and teachers.


As part of its commitment to an active learning environment, Bretford Manufacturing introduced the EVER Cart with MiX Module System. EVER Carts feature a future-proof MiX Module System and customizable modules that can be continually modified to accommodate future devices.


ExploreLearning Reflex builds students’ basic math facts mastery and confidence by creating an optimal, motivating experience for every child. Reflex delivers “problem solved” success by means of: a fully adaptive system that continually monitors students’ responses so they have early and ongoing success; a game-based design that requires students to engage in increasingly complex and fast-paced decision-making that is both fun and challenging; and a fact-family approach that builds and reinforces important mathematical concepts.


Lightspeed Technologies unveiled three new features of its Flexcat classroom audio system: expanded coverage, Whisper Coaching, and a new iOS app. Flexcat consists of a wearable microphone for the teacher, a speaker for whole-group instruction, and a set of two-way audio pods that allow teachers to listen and speak to small groups from anywhere in the classroom. The audio pods make Flexcat a powerful tool for large classrooms, small-group instruction, team teaching, and professional development events.


MAXCases introduced a new design in Virtual Reality (VR) devices for the classroom. The FlipOut is an easy-to-use, lightweight, virtual reality viewer that can be easily stored in a classroom, even in the teacher’s pocket. This reasonably priced device can be used with many portable devices. This means that students in a 1:1 or Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) classroom can immediately start exploring the world beyond their classroom.


Gale’s In Context suite of products combines easily searchable, mobile-responsive, modern design and functionality with authoritative, high-quality digital content. Each subject-specific resource uses eye-catching topic overview pages to bring together nonfiction materials in all digital formats—articles, videos, charts, images and infographics, and more—so students can read or watch to get the facts. The content within these media-rich Web sites supports current national and state standards, and spans core subjects and 21st-century themes.


HiveSchool interfaces with Google Apps and Chrome as an extension to create classes and add students. The app allows teachers to present content to individual students’ devices, track process, and lock students’ screens. Teachers may assign resources to the class in multiple formats, including documents, Web sites, apps, and video clips. Judges liked the clean interface.
