Six Essential Reading Strategies

WiLEARNS (Wisconsin Literacy Education and Reading Network Source) provides SIX specific strategies (Making Connections, Questioning, Visualizing, Inferring, Determining Importance, and Synthesizing) for improving reading comprehension in older students, all focusing on determining the importance of the material in their readings. In addition to clear explanations of each strategy, there are learning activities to reinforce student understanding of the six concepts.
