Flipped Learning Network to Hold 8th Annual Conference at Michigan State University

Lake Forest, Ill. (April 22, 2015) – To enhance classroom instruction and increase K-16 student outcomes through Flipped Learning, the Flipped Learning Network™ will hold its 8th Annual Flipped Conference (FlipCon15) July 13-15 in East Lansing, Michigan on the Michigan State University campus. As the event continues to grow year after year, it will incorporate an increased higher education focus.

Lake Forest, Ill. (April 22, 2015) – To enhance classroom instruction and increase K-16 student outcomes through Flipped Learning, the Flipped Learning Network™ will hold its 8th Annual Flipped Conference (FlipCon15) July 13-15 in East Lansing, Michigan on the Michigan State University campus. As the event continues to grow year after year, it will incorporate an increased higher education focus.

The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Paul Andersen, 2011 Montana Teacher of the Year and Finalist for the 2011 National Teacher of the year. Andersen is currently taking a two-year sabbatical from Bozeman High School in Montana and serves as vice-chair on the Montana Board of Public Education.

The conference will host pre-conference sessions; a hands-on boot camp; three plenary sessions on flipped learning in K-12 and higher education; 12 featured sessions; and more than 70 concurrent sessions across all areas of K-16, including a curated “New to Flipping” track. Session topics include:

  • New to Flipped Learning
  • Tools & Skills of the Trade
  • Beyond the Flipped Classroom
  • Leadership, Professional Development, Workplace Training
  • Flipped in Higher Education and Teacher Education
  • Research on Flipped Learning

“Last year, more than 400 attendees gathered at FlipCon14 to learn how Flipped Learning helps students apply concepts and engage creatively with subject matter,” said Flipped Learning pioneer Jon Bergmann. “FlipCon15 has evolved to equip K-16 with even more skills and knowledge to implement or expand Flipped Learning pedagogy.”

Onsite registration for FlipCon15 is currently open. The onsite fee is $450 with price breaks for the pre-conference training or Boot Camp sessions. The University of Northern Colorado is offering graduate credits to attendees.

Pioneering Flipped Educators Launch 'Flipped Learning Network'

Flipped Learning pioneers Jonathan Bergmann and Aaron Sams have launched the Flipped Learning Network™, a non-profit organization for teachers interested in the Flipped Learning ideology. 6th Annual Flipped Conference to be Live Streamed for Worldwide Access

The 6th Annual Flipped Conference is scheduled for June 18-19 in Stillwater, Minn., and worldwide through the FlipCon13 Virtual Conference live stream. Virtual attendees can participate in keynote sessions with speakers Jon Bergmann, Aaron Sams and Ramsey Musallam; a panel of students, parents and educators; and 28 concurrent sessions. A moderated online communication channel will enable virtual attendees to contribute questions and participate in discussion.

Flipped Learning Network Unveils Formal Definition of Flipped Learning

To counter common misconceptions and bring clarity to discussions about “Flipped Learning,” the governing board and key leaders of the Flipped Learning Network (FLN) announce a formal definition of the term. FLN also announces the Four Pillars of F-L-I-P™ and a checklist of 11 supporting indicators that educators must incorporate into their practice. The definition draws a distinction between Flipped Learning and a Flipped Classroom.
