LOS GATOS, Calif. – Aug. 13, 2015 – Today OpenEd, creator of the world’s largest online library of K-12 standards-aligned resources, announced it now features resources aligned to all Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. With this additional content, the state’s more than 300,000 K-12 teachers can link assessment to instruction to accelerate their students’ progress toward TEKS standards.
While many Texas teachers already use OpenEd resources with their students, they are enthusiastic about the ways that the new alignments will help their pupils master state learning goals. Amanda Jones, an environmental systems and AP environmental science teacher at LG Pinkston High School in Dallas, uses OpenEd to find videos, assessments and games for her classroom and is excited that she’ll be able to search the website for resources aligned to the TEKS. “I think now it will be easier to find material that is based on the TEKS and can best help my students master all standards. This also will aid my data tracking and RTI processes by increasing implementation of these practices, allowing for more TEKs mastery,” she said. “I like that I’ll be able to assign videos for reinforcement of what’s required under the TEKS and that my students can go online for their assignments."
Doug Vair, a middle school social studies teacher at Carpe Diem San Antonio said that accessing OpenEd resources aligned to the TEKS will save him time as he personalizes learning for his students. “When I see that a student’s instructional readiness is not where it needs to be and I know that it relates to a Texas standard, I can go right to OpenEd and, without wasting time searching, quickly and easily find a resource that focuses on what the student needs to know,” he said.
Texas students join more than 4 million others around the country whose teachers are using the OpenEd collection of videos, quizzes and assessment to keep them on track for success in school, college and careers.
“At OpenEd, we are committed to curating a high quality collection of proven educational resources that are aligned to achievement standards,”
said Adam Blum, CEO of OpenEd. “Today’s launch of the TEKS alignments makes OpenEd an even more powerful learning resource for teachers and students in our country’s second largest state.”
The largest K-12 educational resource library, OpenEd offers over a million assessments, homework assignments, videos, instructional games and lesson plans for every Common Core Math and English/Language Arts Standard as well as the Next Generation Science Standards and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.
OpenEd lets teachers assign quizzes and homework to their students and automatically grades them, recommending videos and assignments in real-time and personalized based on each student's progress in learning each Common Core standard. The result is truly personalized learning for every student.
