NEW YORK – April 11, 2016 – Four Pearson digital learning products are finalists in five categories in the 2016 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Awards. The SIIA CODiE Awards are the premier awards for the software and information industry and have been recognizing product excellence for more than 30 years.

The Pearson finalists are:

REVEL, an interactive learning environment that enables students to read, practice and study in one continuous experience, is honored in both the Best Postsecondary Learning Content Solution and Best Learning Capacity-Building Solution categories. REVEL interweaves text-based reading material, interactive exercises, assessments and video segments to provide an engaging experience that helps students take an active role in learning. This design increasingly draws upon principles of learning design and theory for cognitive load-balancing and retention. With REVEL, educators can track the time students spend on reading assignments and performance on assessments, providing a comprehensive view of students’ engagement and understanding prior to class. REVEL provides a fully mobile experience, which enables students to read and interact with course material on their devices at anytime and anywhere.

●Pearson’s Next Generation Social Studies is a finalist in the Best Social Sciences or Social Studies Instructional Solution Category. Created in collaboration with educators, social studies experts and students, this exciting new approach includes higher-level content that gives students the support to access complex text, acquire core content knowledge, and tackle rigorous questions; essential questions and stories to increase long-term understanding and retention of learning; a focused table of contents to save teachers time and improve pacing; and digital content on Pearson Realize™ that is dynamic, flexible and uses the power of technology to bring social studies to life.

●The company’s Professional Learning Model, online professional development for teachers using a “flipped model,” is recognized in the Best Professional Learning Solution for K-20 Faculty and Administrative Staff category. This unique approach requires teachers to view a video, read an article, or complete an activity prior to attending the session. Having background knowledge on the topic allows the synchronous session to focus on practicing and applying concepts within a collaborative learning environment – the way that teachers learn best. The Professional Learning Model was designed to increase student achievement, personalize learning for students, prepare students for college and careers, and increase teacher effectiveness.

Q-interactive, an innovative digital system for delivering clinical assessments using iPads, is a finalist for Best Solution for Special Needs Students. Designed for use in schools, clinics, hospitals, private practice and universities, Q-interactive allows clinicians to administer tests via two iPads connected with Bluetooth. Q-interactive improves accuracy, reduces testing time, increases flexibility and allows for more personalized assessment through features including real-time scoring, audio recording, and on-the-spot editing of tests.

Winners will be announced during a virtual award ceremony on May 18 and the top honor of best overall education product will be presented at the Education Industry Symposium on July 26 in Denver.
