Lawrenceville, GA – Aug. 15, 2016 – More and more, parents, teachers and school and district administrators agree that improving science education should be a top national priority. To give students and educators greater access to science education software, Boxlight and K-12 science technology pioneer Globisens, today released their GlobiLab app for Chromebook laptops.

Downloadable from the Google Play store athttp://tinyurl.com/z6xpggq the new app allows students to access the program anytime, anywhere from their Chromebook-enabled classrooms and computer labs, and they can extend their use outside of the school day in blended learning environments.

Globisens has previously leveraged the revolutionary design of iOS and the versatility of Android to help educators and students make the most of GlobiLab, now it was time for Chromebook users.

“The genesis for our Chromebook app came after we realized that while the Chromebook has emerged as a unique utility for the education sector in recent years, many users were restricted by the limited number of available apps for this platform, particularly in science education,” said Dov Bruker, Globisens CEO. "The importance of including more hands-on learning activities has been echoed by teachers and students alike, for some time as a way to give the greatest potential for increasing student engagement and achievement in science studies."

GlobiLab software communicates wirelessly with Labdisc multi-sensor compact devices, allowing for full setup and control of the devices. Graphical and meter displays present data in real time, enabling students to quickly measure their world and analyze data samples. The software’s sophisticated data analysis functions help students develop skilled scientific responses by enabling users to perform derivative and regression functions as well as view comprehensive statistics. GlobiLab also merges the latest sensor, Internet and satellite technologies so that students can plot measurement data over a Google map, allowing them to map local pollution or weather conditions and compare their data with other schools – opening the door for meaningful collaboration between learners all over the world.

Boxlight Begins Offering Monthly STEM Lessons for Teachers

Lawrenceville, GA – Oct. 26, 2017 – Back in 2008, only three to four percent of K-12 science teachers were using sensors and data loggers in the classroom, according to the nonprofit educational research group Concord Consortium. While that percentage has increased over the past decade, many STEM teachers are still relatively new to the practice, and as a result, devising or finding activities involving those tools is often a challenge. To help fill this need, Boxlight is developing and releasing monthly STEM lessons, most of which will be centered around use of one or more of the 15 sensors embedded within the Labdisc portable STEM lab. The lessons are available at https://goo.gl/xAr2uv.
