Accelerated e-Transcript Volume and Network Membership Drives Strong First-Quarter Growth for Parchment

More than 65 high schools and colleges, including Capella University and Pittsburgh Public Schools, have joined the growing e-transcript and student record exchange network through Docufide by Parchment in the first quarter of this year to increase operational efficiency and save potentially millions in paper, postage and labor costs. Parchment, which doubled e-transcript volume in 2011 to 1.6 million, reports that the volume of e-transcripts exchanged through its industry-leading platform in first quarter of this year is nearly doubled over the same quarter last year. The rapid growth is an indication of the heightened demand for digital academic records as a stepping stone to academic analytics, with credentials data as a key factor in the equation.

Pennsylvania Selects Parchment for Statewide E-Transcript Initiative

E-transcript exchange among educational institutions across the country continues to expand, with Pennsylvania becoming the most recent state to offer a statewide system to its schools and students in support of broader preK-20 collaboration and improved academic outcomes. Pennsylvania is the seventh state to partner with Parchment and select the company's Docufide platform, the industry-leading e-transcript and student records exchange network. Pennsylvania received a federal grant to cover the start-up costs of the system for its more than 1,000 local education agencies and higher education institutions if they sign up by July 1, 2013.

Parchment Releases 2nd Annual ‘Student Choice College Rankings’

Today, education credentials data pioneer Parchment Inc. releases its 2013 Student Choice College Rankings, the only college rankings system that compares higher education institutions based on actual acceptance and enrollment data. While other rankings systems are based on subjective factors or self-reported data, Parchment ranks colleges and universities based solely on the decisions of hundreds of thousands of students who were admitted to multiple colleges and ultimately chose one to attend, ultimately revealing their preferences. The results rank colleges from most likely to be chosen to least likely to be chosen, and provide a valuable resource for students to find the best fit for them. This college rankings system was first proposed by university professors after studying physicist Arpad Elo's rating system for chess players. The rankings are based on a sampling of more than 200,000 college acceptances from 2009 to 2012 with data from all 50 states, collected through the unique online tool for students to track and share official transcripts and academic data, Parchment.com.

Parchment Enhances its Industry-Leading e-Transcript Exchange Platform With Analytics Tools

On the heels of its acquisition of Avow Systems yesterday, Parchment is unveiling enhancements to its Docufide e-Transcript exchange platform and launching a new offering called Parchment Discover, which represents a new category of enrollment analytics. Using social graphing, Parchment Discover enables higher education officials to better identify prospective students, not only based on academic credentials, but also where similar students have applied, were accepted, and ultimately chose to enroll. The tool also helps students get noticed by colleges that may be a good fit for them by opting in when they use the free service, Parchment.com, which helps students request and send e-transcripts to colleges of their choice, gauge their college admissions chances and get college recommendations. New features in Docufide include a Dashboard that helps high school and college administrators see quick snapshots of transcript requests, delivery status, and volume, among other data.

‘Quiet Revolution’ Gains Momentum as Parchment Delivers 4 Millionth e-Transcript

Driven by an expanding network of secondary and postsecondary education providers, Docufide® by Parchment™ has now exchanged more than 4 million electronic transcripts (e-Transcripts). The industry-leading e-Transcript exchange network doubled the volume of e-Transcripts delivered in each of the past four years, and year-over-year growth is expected to double again in 2012. Institutions tapped Docufide to exchange nearly 1 million transcripts through the first six months of this year alone.

Education Innovator Ted Mitchell Joins Parchment Board of Directors

To support its burgeoning education credentials data company, Parchment has appointed Dr. Ted Mitchell, CEO of NewSchools Venture Fund, as a member of the board of directors and Rajeev Arora, formerly of Blackboard, as the VP of marketing. Dr. Mitchell is well known for his work that spans more than 30 years in various administrative positions for colleges and universities and government commissions, and more recently, for his investment in startups like Khan Academy. Today's announcement is another indication of the increasing demand for e-Transcript and credentials data solutions as K-12 and higher education institutions focus on overcoming rising cost pressures and lackluster graduation rates.

Parchment Offers Colleges Full Integration Support For Industry-Leading Student Information Systems

Timely data-driven decision-making is the key to improving school business and student outcomes, yet K-12 and higher education institutions often lack data systems that easily "communicate" with one another and provide quick access to the information needed. Student information systems and other school data management systems have varying standards and formats, and each institution has its own business rules and policies governing how to handle specific situations and information queries, making it difficult to share information in a few clicks. With a new partnership between Parchment and IData, schools and colleges can send and receive transcript and other education credentials data in the format they prefer, and manage the processes from within their student information system, including many of the popular systems in use today such as Jenzabar, Datatel and PeopleSoft. Docufide by Parchment is offered in a free version for K-12 schools and colleges to use to send and receive electronic transcripts.
