FundingFactory Participants Eligible to Win One of Four now!Boards™ by Setting and Reaching their Recycling Goals

ERIE, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2012) — FundingFactory, the largest recycling fundraiser, is partnering with Learning Resources®, a leading global manufacturer of educational products, to help schools earn the latest classroom technology. The companies also are teaming up to offer four now!Board™ Portable Interactive Whiteboard Technology giveaways in the 2012-2013 school year.

FundingFactory is a 100 percent free fundraising by recycling program for schools and nonprofit organizations. Participants exchange used inkjet and toner printer cartridges, cell phones, and small electronics for cash or points redeemable for new technology and other products through FundingFactory’s online Rewards Catalog. New this fall, participants are able to redeem points to purchase Learning Resources products, including now!Board™.

“Learning Resources understands our participants’ needs for affordable classroom and board room technology,” said Sean Michaels, president of FundingFactory. “By partnering with them, we’ve extended the suite of technology available through our Rewards Catalog—devices our participants otherwise may not be able to obtain.”

In addition to recycling to earn Learning Resources products, FundingFactory participants have four chances this school year to be entered to win devices. Participants who set an annual fundraising goal by Oct. 31 will automatically be entered to win a now!Board. A second entry for the same now!Board will be awarded to participants who achieve their fundraising goal of $500 or more by May 31, 2013. now!Board, which will be awarded by FundingFactory in June 2013, is an easy-to-use, portable whiteboard technology that works with any projector and computer on any flat surface.

To kick off the season, Learning Resources and FundingFactory also are giving away a now!Board on “Super Tuesdays” during FundingFactory’s annual “October Treats” promotion. Participants can log into their FundingFactory account every Tuesday during the month for a chance to win one of three now!Boards, or an Easi-Speak™ USB Recorder or Luna™ Interactive Projection Camera.

FundingFactory and Learning Resources announce the winner of the Set a Goal, Win a now!Board giveaway. Participants who set a fundraising goal and created a public page at FundingFactory.com between Sept. 1, 2012 and Oct. 31, 2012 were entered to win now!Board Portable Interactive Whiteboard Technology. In addition, participants who met or exceeded their fundraising goal by May 31, 2013, were given a second entry to double their chances of winning. FundingFactory Announces Winners of ‘Recycling Rumble’

More than 1,144 total schools and nonprofits nationwide contended for the Top Recycler title in FundingFactory’s “Recycling Rumble” competition from March 13 to May 31.  The winning schools and nonprofits earned a 25 percent fundraising bonus, while the top recycler, Panhandle Humane Society of Scottsbluff, Neb. won a new Apple® iPad®. Throughout the competition, participants collected and shipped used inkjet and toner cartridges, cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras and GPS devices to FundingFactory, earning one point for each qualifying item redeemable for cash or new technology.

FundingFactory Announces Second Annual ‘Recycling Rumble’ Winners

FundingFactory, the nation’s largest fundraising by recycling program for schools and nonprofits, announces the winners of the second annual ‘Recycling Rumble’. 537 winning schools and nonprofits overcame their opponents in each rumble match-up where they competed for two months to recycle the largest quantity of electronic waste (e-waste). The winning schools and nonprofits earned a 25 percent fundraising bonus, and the top recycler overall won an Apple® iPad®. This year’s top recycler was Manteca High School of Manteca, Calif., recycling 6,535 items and earning more than $3,200. In total, Recycling Rumble participants raised $148,305 and recycled a total of 217,524 items.

FundingFactory Celebrates 15 Years of Supporting Schools and Nonprofits with E-Waste Recycling Fundraiser

FundingFactory celebrates 15 years of helping schools raise funds, while protecting the environment from electronic waste and building awareness of environmental stewardship. Since 1997, more than 50,000 schools and nonprofit organizations have participated in the program, raising more than $31 million total. To celebrate its 15-year anniversary, FundingFactory created a timeline of events, highlighting key program successes over the years.

FundingFactory Honors America Recycles Day Through ‘Care2Collect Just 1’ Drive

In recognition of America Recycles Day, November 15, FundingFactory is sponsoring the “Care2Collect Just 1” campaign to help schools, nonprofits and businesses in protecting the environment while supporting their local communities. Participants are encouraged to recycle one e-waste item through FundingFactory, and donate one non-perishable food item to their local food bank.  For every 100 recyclable items collected, FundingFactory will donate $1 to Second Harvest Food Bank with the goal of raising more than $3,000. Additionally, the free recycling fundraiser aims to raise awareness for America Recycles Day by collecting and recycling more than 300,000 recyclables by the end of November.

FundingFactory Supports School Technology End-of-Life Management Plans

According to a 2012 survey of FundingFactory participants, 60 percent of school technology coordinators do not have an end-of-life management plan for tablets or mobile devices being used in the school. Even more, it is estimated that approximately 70 percent of mobile devices used in classrooms across the country will only last between two and five years. FundingFactory, the nation's largest fundraising by recycling program for schools and nonprofits, urges school technology staff members to take the lead within their districts, and set an example for students and the community, by establishing an end-of-life management plan for technology.

FundingFactory and Scholastic Help Schools Turn Trash into Cash

Together, FundingFactory and Scholastic are launching a new green initiative to raise awareness about the importance of recycling e-waste.  To kick off FundingFactory’s green initiative, educators will have a chance to win $5,000 in the “Go Green” Sweepstakes, which can be used to improve their school’s environmental sustainability efforts or for other initiatives. Educators can visit the “Go Green” Sweepstakes website to enter, learn more about the importance of recycling, and discover ways to build community support for their school’s recycling fundraiser.

FundingFactory participants collected nearly 300,000 recyclables through the ‘Care2Collect Just 1’ campaign in November. The nation’s largest fundraising by recycling program pledged to donate $1 for every 100 qualifying recyclables it received, raising $3,000 to support the Second Harvest Food Bank. During the campaign, participants were encouraged to simply recycle one e-waste item, such as a printer cartridge or cell phone, through FundingFactory, and donate one non-perishable food item to their local food bank. The campaign aimed to help schools, nonprofits and businesses protect the environment while supporting their local communities.
