IRVINE, Calif. (August 7, 2018) – In a move to further its mission of ensuring students are emotionally well and college-and-career ready, North Kansas City School District (NKC Schools) has entered into a three-year partnership with Illuminate Education.

NKC Schools is implementing Illuminate Data & Assessment (DnA) to analyze academic data and eduCLIMBER to manage student behavior data. The combination unifies the district’s previous approaches, giving administrators and teachers a holistic view of student achievement and progress.

“We’ll do everything possible to support our teachers and kids,” said Dr. Eric Sipes, executive director of technology for the district. “We seek out tools that we believe will make the most positive impact on our district’s learning environment, and Illuminate Education’s offerings exceed this need.”

North Kansas City Schools has a history of providing top-of-the-line support to teachers by investing in effective education tools, professional learning and training. Illuminate Education won the contract after an RFP, in part, because of its emphasis on professional learning for teachers. Training to onboard teachers and get them comfortable with the new tools is already underway. To ensure that teachers are fully supported, professional learning days will be ongoing throughout the 2018-19 school year.

“North Kansas City is a savvy district that’s known for embracing technology that truly supports teachers and students every day,” said Christine Willig, CEO of Illuminate Education. “The district is setting an example not only in the Kansas City area, but nationally as well. Our support team is already blown away by the enthusiasm of administrators and teachers.”

Illuminate Education’s DnA system provides teachers with one place to seamlessly build and administer assessments, capture and analyze data, and direct students to learning resources to support specific, targeted standards.

The eduCLIMBER platform is a cloud-based data system that increases the efficiency and accuracy of data analysis, helping teachers monitor student progress and compare data across the district. The combination of the DnA and eduCLIMBER support systems will offer a full view of the district, allowing staff to make informed decisions that support learning outcomes. Teachers will be able to collaborate and create effective assessments with Illuminate’s simple framework.
