How Do You Motivate Learners to Research More Effectively? #EdtechMissions

In today’s #EdtechMissions chat we shared ideas for teaching students how to use web tools and apps to research more effectively. In my book, Hacking Digital Learning Strategies: 10 Ways to Launch EdTech Missions, I discuss the importance of motivating our learners to do more than just use Google and Wikipedia for research. These can be starting points, but learners need to seek the truth and unbiased information. The reason students use these web tools is because they are quick and easy. The key to getting learners to step up their research is introducing them to digital curation and annotation. Our learners have the ability to collect and organize their research into visually stunning digital galleries with web tools, such as Pinterest, Pearltrees, Storify, and Educlipper. They can also annotate or markup articles, videos, images, pdfs, and more with most image editing web tools. Below are a few highlights from the chat. Join us on Twitter every Sunday for the #EdtechMissions chat! We meet from 10amET to 10:30amET (click for more time zones) to share ideas on how to motivate our students to make a meaningful impact on the world with technology.
