Today's Newsletter: The Best in Weekend Edtech Reading
Maybe one day we will go back to writing, and reading, about things other than the election. In the meantime, I did find a few interesting tidbits in the Tech&Learning newsfeeds this weekend. This opinion piece by Garret Zimmer on EdSurge offers up a few provocative bon mots: “let's be honest with ourselves, that education “swamp” Bennett mentioned is actually filled with gimmicks. If someone working in edtech tries to tell you differently, that's a big red flag that either 1) they are lying to you, or 2) they are too ignorant and naive.” Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure also has some strong words about digital equity in an ideas essay in Time magazine last week: “I admire the grit and determination of students who must overcome obstacles to get internet access when they need it, but they shouldn’t have to struggle. It’s wrong. These students are doing their part. So should we.” —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
