ISTE 2012 NEWS: PLATO Learning Acquires Archipelago Learning, Introduces Virtual Academy

PLATO Learning made several announcements at ISTE 2012:

Shareholders of Archipelago Learning voted to adopt the acquisition agreement the two companies entered into on March 5, 2012. The acquisition broadens the comprehensive solutions portfolio of PLATO Learning and aligns with its goal of providing every learner, regardless of circumstance, the opportunity to succeed.

PLATO Learning has partnered with Calgary-based eDynamic Learning to deliver an expanded offering of online electives courses. The Secondary Electives Library includes 24 semester-long courses for students in grades 9-12 including psychology, sociology, forensic science, music appreciation, and photography. PLATO Virtual Academy. This flexible, standards-based solution pairs research-based courses with certified, online teachers. Virtual Academy courses are aligned to Common Core, state, and national standards. This standards-based program also follows the iNACOL National Standards of Quality for Online Programs. The PLATO Virtual Academy will begin with summer school 2012 implementations of over 50 virtual courses across a wide range of subject areas

PLATO Learning's Global Languages curriculum will be available through the PLATO Virtual Academy (PVA) beginning this fall. PLATO Learning launched its Global Languages courses through a partnership with Middlebury Interactive Languages.

  • Advanced Placement Spanish
