Today's Newsletter: The Mess With Social Media

Maybe it’s because we’re close to the end of the school year, but the Tech&Learning newsfeeds continue to fill up with online idiocy from the classroom. 20 students at the Lower Cape May Regional High School in New Jersey were charged this week for texting nude photos of female classmates. The substitute teacher in Maryland who was filmed beating a student with his belt is being defended online somehow. Then there is the Charlie Charlie voodoo going viral on Twitter and causing panic amongst parents nationwide. At least the reporting on these stories doesn’t blame the technology for this ridiculous behavior. But it should highlight the terrible need to improve digital literacy for students, faculty, and parents. —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
