Despite the noise surrounding AI, VR, and other emerging technologies, research shows that district leaders remain focused on the same fundamental priorities they've emphasized for years: student engagement and participation. According to a recent study by Logitech in collaboration with EdWeek Research Center involving more than 100 educators and IT decision makers, 81% measure edtech success through student engagement levels, while 91% expect interactive tools to boost participation.
Madeleine Mortimore, Global Education Innovation and Research Lead for Logitech, breaks it down above in this conversation with Kevin Hogan:
The key to effective technology integration, Maddie says, lies in three essential pillars: students' ability to hear accurately, see clearly, and interact meaningfully with content. More of their research reveals that 97% of educators stop instruction at least twice daily because students didn't hear information, while 89% pause to repeat visual demonstrations students missed—which significantly disrupting lesson flow.
Maddie offers practical guidance on selecting the right tools, shares more eye-opening statistics about the dramatic difference age-appropriate technology makes in student performance, and explains why professional development remains crucial even for "plug and play" devices. Have a listen.
