As the summer heat seems to be wafting through the land, many of us are recharging our batteries. As we do that and prepare for the return of students in the fall, the need for good professional development options often comes to mind. Historically, I have presented a summer reading list. This time, I have identified a few podcasts worth considering. Education 4.0 has a new series on the Edtech Podcast about the future for education. The June 26 podcast was about the personalization of curriculum and the potential of AI to assist with personalization. The Center for Distributed Learning at UCF produces The Teaching Online Podcast (TOPCAST) about issues in online and blended learning. Recent topics include textbook affordability and online quality. Edchat-Radio is another podcast to be aware of. A recent episode discusses how to reconcile different interpretations of “Successful learning.” Another source for ed tech information is aptly named The House of #EdTech podcast. To find other K-12 related podcasts, search through PlayerFM’s K12 Podcast list or the iTunes K-12 listing of podcasts for K-12. iTunes has listings for educational technology and higher education as well. Enjoy your summer listening.

Steve Baule served as a technology director, high school principal, and superintendent for 20+ years in K-12 education. He is currently the director of Winona State University’s online educational doctorate program in Minnesota.
