Google Tools for Educators

The staff at my school is interested in seriously exploring Web 2.0 tools for teacher and student use. Is there an online resource that targets education for this purpose that teachers could use as a starting point?

Check out Google for Educators. Released just last fall this site currently spotlights 12 Google products that teachers and students are using successfully in classrooms. Each tool has a teacher’s guide that includes basic information about the tool along with ideas for classroom use and sample lesson plans. Two tools, Google Earth and Google SketchUp are also featured in videos produced by Discovery Education. Updates to the site are announced in a free E-newsletter.Your teachers will have easy access here to free tools for blogging, creating online word processing and spreadsheet files, and much more. Once these tools are mastered, teachers will feel more comfortable exploring the multitude of other readily available free and low-cost Web 2.0 tools that can be used to engage students and enhance their educational experiences.
