Online Books

Tip:

The Internet is opening up the world of books to everyone everywhere. As professional developers, we can use resources from a list of relevant digital books appropriate for students’ different learning styles.

  • The Open Library (www.openlibrary.org) offers free Web access to important collections from around the world. The site offers the scanned books in an easy interface for free reading online. If they are in the public domain they may be downloaded, shared, and printed for free.
  • International Children’s Digital Library ( http://www.icdlbooks.org) provides a large archive of literature in original languages with the appropriate technology for children ages 3-13 years old.
  • Bookshare ( www.bookshare.org) increases the accessibility to books for people with visual or other print disabilities. The site offers over 24,700 books, with the number growing daily. To download one must be a member. Format includes Daisy BRF and Braille.
