Today is the first day of National Poetry Month. These two websites offer inspiration and ideas to last all month:

  • The Scholastic site has a wealth of great poetry resources and lessons. Each lesson lists grade appropriateness.
  • Poets.org offers many ways to experience poetry - not only can you read poetry from all around the world, both classic and modern, but you can also hear much of the modern poetry read by the poets themselves. In addition, you'll find essays on poetry, resources for celebrating National Poetry Month, and a National Poetry Map which points users to local poets, poetry landmarks, poetry events and more. Poetry is indexed by title and author, and users can even find collections of poems for special occasions.
