Many factors come into play when designing and driving a car so as to lessen its impact on the environment. Engine type, tires, body shape, and driving speed are among the most important. Choose from among these features to design two vehicles. Then race them around a track until their allotted gallon of gas runs out. At the end of the race, a report states how far each vehicle was able to travel and its gas mileage. This activity could be included in a unit on energy conservation or for Earth Day.
