LOS GATOS, Calif. – May 19, 2015 – TodayOpenEd, creator of the world’s largest online collection of standards-aligned resources, announced that PowerUp WHAT WORKS resources for struggling students and those with disabilities are now available in its library.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, PowerUp WHAT WORKS at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) provides customizable materials, lesson plans, instructional strategies, videos and more to enhance learning for students with diverse needs, and to personalize learning with technology and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Cindy Gould, a reading teacher at North Situate Elementary School in North Situate, Rhode Island, exemplifies the thousands of teachers around the country who turn to PowerUp for instructional resources. PowerUp’s resources are available to the 175,000 teachers using OpenEd. The collaboration benefits teachers by:

·Providing them with a powerful and effective way to reach all students, including students struggling and those with disabilities; and

·Supporting their efforts to create instructional content to meet the needs of every students.

In addition, PowerUp’s resources on OpenEd encourage the integration of technology tools to personalize instruction and translate ULD principles into practice.

Students with Disabilities Excel in Summer Work Program

A six-week summer work program at Intermediate School District 287 in Plymouth, Minnesota trained students with disabilities in document imaging tasks, and was so successful that the district has decided to make it a regular part of its training opportunities starting this fall.
