BOSTON (May 9, 2017) – National K-12 publisher Mentoring Minds today announced that Kaleen Pulley, principal of Buford Academy in Buford, is the 2017 Georgia Distinguished Principal and Stacie Carson, Ed.D, assistant principal at Fowler Drive Elementary School in Athens, is the 2017 Georgia Distinguished Assistant Principal, as chosen by the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals (GAESP). Through its partnership with the GAESP, Mentoring Minds awarded $1,000 to Pulley and $500 to Carson. Both educators will be honored with a special award during the GAESP’s annual fall conference in November.
“The commitment to excellence demonstrated by Kaleen and Stacie is reflected in programs designed to meet the academic and social needs of all children and the establishment of community ties with parents and local business organizations,” said Hal Beaver, executive director, GAESP. “They have put the progress and the well-being of every child at the forefront of school planning and operations and their students are on the road to a quality education because of their efforts.”
The Georgia Distinguished Principal Award recognizes one principal in each of the GAESP’s regional districts, and winners are selected by their peers based on exemplary educational leadership. The Distinguished Assistant Principal Awardis presented to an active assistant principal who has served a minimum of two years at their present school and holds a Georgia L5 certification.
