Our Story: All Aboard the Train!

7/25/2013 8:00:00 PM
Who doesn’t love exploring the excitement and mystery of train travel during the steam-engine era! Use the resources from the Smithsonian Institution to take a trip back in time by examining the objects in the online exhibitions, download Jingle the Brass to learn train lingo, and use the activities to help your students have fun while learning about the importance of rail transportation to the growth of the United States. There are lots of pictures of steam engines, train travelers, and words to old railroad songs. There is even a video of the famous steam engine, the John Bull, which took a victory lap on its 150th birthday. All aboard!
