The subtitle for this site is “hands-on science curriculum for the adventurous teacher.”  After you use this lesson on determining whether something is alive, be sure to look through the rest of the site. It has lessons with supporting downloads and detailed teacher’s guides for a host of science topics. This lesson plan is for middle school students, includes vocabulary necessary for understanding the characteristics of life, cards to download for a student activity, and a six-page Word document filled with ways to teach the lesson, including instructions on how to make "glue monsters."
