Another school year is here, and with it another list of new apps, both controversial and beneficial, with which to contend. Musicall.ly is popular worldwide but has some serious safety flaws, especially for younger students. This piece in the Washington Post details the After School app, which has millions of teenage users but is virtually unknown to parents—what is intended to be a “safe space” apparently can quickly turn into cyber bullying terrain. On the flip side, Facebook’s Lifestage turns a user’s profile into and introductory video for new students.
