K-12 publishing company, TCI, announced today that its interactive programs, Social Studies Alive! California Series (K-5)and History Alive! California Series (6-8), were adopted by the California State Board of Education on November 9 and recommended for adoption for California’s schools. Developed by teachers from throughout California, TCI’s social studies curriculum is aligned to the California History-Social Science Framework, which was adopted by the State Board of Education in 2016. 

TCI’s new social studies programs embody the key shifts in the 2016 California History-Social Science Framework with its emphasis on inquiry-based critical thinking skills, integrated literacy activities, and active citizenship. In addition, TCI has ensured that the content and tone of Social Studies Alive! California Series (K-5) and History Alive! California Series (6-8) reflect current scholarship about the state’s diverse communities.
