New blog explores brainy topics

Scientific Learning announces the launch of a new blog, The Science of Learning. Written primarily by chief scientific officer Dr. William Jenkins, and chief education officer Sherrelle Jiggitts Walker, The Science of Learning blog provides information on advances in neuroscience, cognitive research, the science of “brain plasticity,” and ways to accelerate learning for children and adults.

In his first blog post, Jenkins reviews the topic of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and academic success, citing a recent study from the University of California – Davis, School of Medicine, and commenting on how attention issues appear to be more important to later success than previously thought. Additional posts will cover topics such as successful learning models used to boost early reading skills, and comments on author Michael Horn’s thoughts on “disruptive innovation” in the classroom.
