New tool integrates Common Core Standards

PD developer School Improvement Network (SINET) has created a tool that will help educators make quick and powerful use of those Standards. The Learning Progression Tool is a groundbreaking function that has been added to SINET’s Common Core solution suite, Common Core 360.

“The Common Core Standards are well designed,” Says Cory Linton, vice president of SINET, “ but by their nature can be cumbersome and difficult to navigate. We’ve talked to many educators who feel like they could make better use of the Standards if they were just more accessible. The Learning Progression Tool is a direct response to that need.”

The Learning Progression Tool provides an intuitive way to browse the Standards for lesson planning, curriculum alignment, and remedial/special education planning. Within the Tool, the Standards are placed on a digital card deck, where each individual Standard is given its own card. The deck is arranged by grade and subject, and is easily navigable with the click of a mouse. Standards can be searched by any number of identifying criteria, and are accessible wherever a laptop can go. With the Tool, teachers can:

See exactly what skills their students learned in previous school years.

Understand precisely what they will need to know to perform well next year.

Plan more efficient lessons based on this knowledge.

Differentiate lesson planning more readily, knowing quickly and easily where each student stands in the rubric of the Standards.

“The people who designed the Common Core brought the Standards to the schools, and now, with our Learning Progression Tool and other Common Core solutions, we’re bringing the Standards to teachers in their own classrooms. The facility that they’ll have locating and navigating the Standards will enable teachers to tap the deep potential in the Common Core.”
