Apps Aims to Boost Literacy for Mobile Learners

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt™ (HMH®) today introduced a new collection of seven elementary grade-specific tablet apps (K-6). TheCommon Core Reading Practice and Assessmentapps are available for download in the App StoreSM and on Google Play™. Designed for today’s increasingly mobile students, teachers and families, the apps provide literacy exercises and develop test-taking practice skills aligned to the ELA Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

The Common Core Reading Practice and Assessment apps feature new reading passages and dynamic activities, and may be used independently or as a supplement to any reading program.

The apps provide assessment practice for next generation tests like PARCC and SBAC by using tech-enhanced items, such as “drag and drop” and “tap to choose” that mirror the assessment formats. Additionally, real-time reports on student performance, including number of attempts and right or wrong answers, are accessible online through the app’s Teacher Resource Center.

The Common Core Reading Practice and Assessment app is available for $1.99 per grade level in the App Store and on Google Play.
