Happy Independence Day! Before you go to the parade, picnic, or fireworks, think a bit about how to incorporate the founding concepts of the Fourth of July into lessons during the school year. This unit plan is a good place to start. Using the concept that a class has become an independent country, students work in groups to design symbols that depict their class.
