This charming book by Laura Joffee Numeroff can be used in many ways in the elementary classroom besides as just a fun read. This lesson plan focuses on the economics of unlimited wants, goods, and services. It also reviews cause and effect, sequencing, recalling, and making predictions. The post-reading questions focus primarily on the economic questions of wants and needs. Using this book as an economics lesson is innovative and a great introduction to the so-called “dismal” science in a fun way.
