This lesson plan for grades 7-12 features a classic game show scenario in which you pick one of three doors in the hopes of winning the prize. This is called Monty’s Dilemma, after the long-running game show Let’s Make a Deal. Students investigate the outcomes of three strategies to determine how to pick the door that opens to the grand prize. This approach to understanding probability shows that there is more than chance involved in making such a choice. The lesson plan is very detailed and offers many ways of approaching the strategies used in this problem-solving.
