Poetry Out Loud

Poetry Out Loud

Hear British poets read 21 of their own poems, including, incredibly, Alfred, Lord Tennyson's 1890 reading of "The Charge of the Light Brigade," as recorded by agents of Thomas Alva Edison on one of the inventor's wax cylinders. Other poets include notables such as Ogden Nash, Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath, and Stevie Smith. Each poem is briefly introduced with information about the poet and the background of the poem. And the British speech patterns will be eye-opening for your students.
