Soccer Math: Adding One-Digit Numbers
published
Here’s a math game for early elementary age students that combine their interest in soccer with their need to practice adding one-digit numbers. First you are given an addition problem. If you answer it correctly, a soccer ball begins to roll in front of the net. When you decide where you want it to stop, you click on that, your avatar appears, and one click later, you kick the ball at the goal and hope the goalie doesn’t stop it. This is all accompanied by wild cheering of the crowd, and groans when the ball doesn’t make it into the goal. There are three levels of play and, as you play again and again, the problems change each time.
