TED talks cover a variety of subjects. This one helps make sense of spelling. English might seem to have a somewhat random relationship between words and their spelling, but this TED talk shows that the opposite is true. The video is visually appealing and entertaining. The narrator gives many examples of the structure, bases, and meaningful elements in words that give an understanding to how and why they are spelled the way they are. The history of words and their usage also give clues to why spelling is the way it is.
